Races to Watch

The Can-Am Crown offers three exciting races to accommodate various skill levels and distances:

  • Can-Am Crown 250: The longest and most challenging race, covering 250 miles deep into the Allagash Wilderness. Mushers compete for a share of the $29,000 purse.

  • Can-Am Crown 100: A mid-distance race perfect for experienced mushers looking for a competitive challenge.

  • Can-Am Crown 30: A shorter, fast-paced race ideal for beginners and spectators who want a quick, action-packed event.

Spectator Highlights

All three races have highly accessible starts on Main Street in Fort Kent and finishes at the Lonesome Pine Ski Lodge, where you can enjoy a festive atmosphere filled with food, music, and vendors. Key spectator points include:

  • Start Line on Main Street: Watch the excitement as teams take off with eager dogs leading the way.

  • Lonesome Pine Ski Lodge Finish: Cheer on teams as they cross the finish line amidst a festive crowd.

  • Designated Viewing Points: In Portage Lake and Allagash for the Can-Am Crown 250.

For logistic and safety reasons, checkpoints west of Portage Lake and south of Allagash are closed to the public.

Safety Tips for Spectators

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone:

  • Supervise Children: While children love dogs, not all dogs love children. Keep a safe distance.

  • No Pets Allowed: Spectators are strictly prohibited from bringing pets to race sites.

  • Dress Warmly: Bring extra layers to stay warm.
