Ready, set, run! Race through Maine's scenic wilderness for the much-anticipated Moosehead Marathon and Half Marathon is making its debut in Greenville, Maine on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Set against the stunning backdrop of Moosehead Lake, Maine's largest freshwater lake, this race promises both challenge and unforgettable scenery.
Whether you're conquering the full 26.2-mile marathon or the 13.1-mile half marathon, you'll run through one of the most picturesque and welcoming regions in Maine. This is more than a race — it’s an immersive experience in the heart of the Northwoods.

Race Day: Starting at 7:30 AM
Race Course Highlights
Half Marathon:
Distance: 13.1 Miles (1 loop)
Elevation Gain: 973 ft
Marathon:
Distance: 26.2 Miles (2 loops)
Elevation Gain: 1,946 ft
Course Amenities:
Water and aid stations positioned throughout the course
Safe, runner-friendly route (no bikes or cyclists allowed during the race)
6-hour cutoff time (both races)
Kids Fun Run — Get the Whole Family Involved!
Before the main race kicks off, the Greenville Recreation Department will host a Kids Fun Run at 8:00 AM on race day.
Distance: Once around the high school track (or twice, based on age)
Cost: $5 per child (cash only on race day)
Location: Start/Finish hub at Greenville Consolidated Schools
All proceeds benefit the Greenville Recreation Department
No pre-registration is needed — just show up and let the kids join in the fun!
Awards & Recognition
Awards for the top three male and female finishers in both the marathon and half marathon
Age group awards (based on race day registration numbers)
Looking Ahead: Boston Marathon Qualifier Status
This year’s Moosehead Marathon is not yet a USA Track & Field-certified course and will not serve as a Boston Marathon qualifier. However, organizers are already working toward future certification to make this an official qualifier in the years to come.
