After a two-year hiatus due to uncooperative weather, the beloved tradition of ice racing on the hard water of West Cove, located in the picturesque Greenville Junction, Maine, is gearing up to celebrate its long-overdue 25th anniversary. Every Saturday at noon, weather and ice conditions permitting, West Cove comes alive with the thrill of ice racing. Located on the iconic Moosehead Lake, this event offers a unique way to experience the beauty of Maine’s winter while enjoying the excitement of competitive racing. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a curious newcomer, this is one winter event you won't want to miss.


Racing, Community, and Winter Fun

Ice racing on Moosehead Lake features modified vehicles speeding around a specially designed track carved into the frozen lake. Spectators and participants gather each Saturday for heart-pounding action, followed by social gatherings at Woody’s Bar and Grill, where racers and fans swap stories, claim bragging rights, and reconnect with the vibrant community.


The West Cove Ice Racing Association prides itself on fostering camaraderie and encouraging new members to join. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or just curious about the sport, there’s a spot for you in this dynamic and welcoming group.


How to Get Involved

The upcoming season kicks off with a meeting on Sunday, January 12th, at 6 PM at Woody’s Bar and Grill. Interested in racing or becoming part of this historic association? Join the meeting to learn more about the rules, the racing schedule, and how you can get involved.
